Sagittarius Full Moon 23.05.24

The Sagittarius full moon falls on the 23rd of May, bringing with it the powerful energy of number 9. This is a sign of abundant new beginnings and the closing of a cycle. The 9 is like that final moment where everything becomes clear and we are ready to walk the new path. You’ve done the hard work and now it is time to receive.

Of course Sagittarius offers us the energy of the fire element, allowing us to tap into that deeper yearning for more. The ambition and motivation to achieve great things and the courage to trust and follow our instincts. Represented by the centaur, half man, half horse, we are reminded of the importance of not just listening to logic alone, but rather bridging the two worlds of our inner instincts and our grounded logic in order to forge a practical and aligned path forward.

When the centaur shoots his arrow, he is guided by his instincts. He does not know where the arrow will fall, but trusts that it will land where it is supposed to. This is our task now, to be brave and shoot our arrow into the sky, to aim high and set grand goals for ourselves; to take the leap into the unknown.

This full moon will reveal to us where we have been holding back, out of fear and push us to release the arrow that we have been gripping onto so tightly because we were afraid it wouldn’t hit the target.

This focus on harmonising instinct and logic also mirrors in many ways the Gemini energy that we are also under with the sun in Gemini. But this is not a time to get stuck in our heads, and the Sagittarius energy offers us an opportunity to escape the procrastination and put a little fire under us to get us moving.

A beautiful metaphor that comes to me as I think about this full moon is the imagery of the centaur. It is an unusual creature connected to two different worlds, a creature that may often question its sense of belonging. But despite that, he combines the strengths of both parts of him and channels that into his aim and perfects it. For me this is a reminder that your uniqueness, or the aspects of you that make you feel different or out of place are the exact parts of you from which you can draw your strength. And if, instead of fearing those unusual parts of you being seen, you learn to embrace them; celebrate them even, you will find that you can achieve so much more than you thought you could.

The main message under this full moon is really to be willing to do things differently. Yes, things will change when you change the way you show up and embody more of your true form, but this simply allows you to live in greater alignment with that truth. Don’t be afraid to let go now of any thoughts, beliefs or ways of doing things that no longer feel aligned. Tap into what lights you up, let go of self-judgment and just enjoy your journey, without needing to know exactly where you will end up. When you do this you will free yourself from restrictions and invite great prosperity into your life.
