The Aries new moon is a particularly special moon, as it not only represents the start of a new lunar cycle but also the start of the astrological year. Aries is the baby of the zodiac, the first sign on the wheel, and for that reason is highly associated with new beginnings. Of course timed perfectly with the spring equinox, Aries season began just the day before this new moon, as the sun aligns with the Earth’s equator. So, not only are we gifted the beautiful energy of new beginnings and hopeful promise for the future, but we also have the prominent reminder of seeking balance in all that we do. This is what the equinox stirs for us as we experience the unique moment where day and night are of equal length.
These themes are synchronistically portrayed by the symbolism of Aries. On the one hand we have this baby sign, which brings the energy of purity and the playfulness of a child. And, on the other hand the powerful energy of the ram that centres on loyalty and leadership. It’s a beautiful reminder that to have goals and to be determined in our endevours is important, but it is also all for nothing if we cannot enjoy the journey and learn to not always be so serious in our approach. In this way, Aries reminds us that life is meant to be fun. When we look at life through the eyes of a child we see opportunity and wonder. This is the energy that we can draw on under this moon - thinking outside of the box and opening ourselves up to new and different ways of doing things. This might even mean we begin brand new projects.
The numerology of this new moon is both 13 and 4. I chose to include both the double digit figure and the single as I felt both are relevant here. 13 is very representative of luck, as well as femininity and therefore fertility. As this time is the start of the astrological year and the spring, we see this sense of fertility reflected in nature too. The energy all around us is ripe for planting seeds that will bring success, and that is exactly what we should be doing under this new moon - planting the seeds we wish to nurture and grow over the coming months. We are called to consider exactly what we want to manifest and bring into fruition in the year ahead and take assertive action. Both long and short term goals are likely to be a point of focus now.
This brings us nicely into the 4 and what this number represents. The 4 speaks of firstly, complete stability; if we think of the 4 elements. So it’s about using all the different skills and resources we have available to pursue our goals. The 4 is also about determination and success, which ties back in with the attributes of Aries and the ram. It’s having the courage to really go for what you want and taking real positive action towards that. Being a fire sign, these themes of personal power, courage and ambition are of course all highlighted under this new moon.
Overall this moon has a positive and uplifting feel to it and some of us will be entering a brand new journey that is like a rebirth. Just try to remember through any changes that occur that sometimes things must be moved out of the way in order for your true path to become clear and accessible. Trust the shifts you are moving through and don’t let the fear of the unknown keep you from moving forward. As with any new beginnings, before them must come some endings, so listen inwardly for the intuitive nudges around things that may need to be let go of before this journey begins and trust your intuition. New moons are always particularly intuitive so taking the time to slow down and ask for guidance is favoured at this time and it is likely we will receive some very helpful insights to guide us forward.
